In 2004, CCI expanded its work to other parts of Asia, including China, Pakistan, Indonesia and Timor Leste.

Working in partnerships with various organisations, groups and individuals, CCI provides programmes such as the sponsorship of education, healthcare, micro-enterprise development, and community projects such as livelihood restoration and the provision of computer labs for schools.

CCI’s project in Aceh – The Aceh Livelihood Project – aims to help rebuild lives devastated by the 2004 tsunami, by providing livelihood skills, which enable people in the tsunami-affected communities of Paya Kameng, Lamreh and Krueng Raya to make a living.

The Aceh Livelihood Project is currently developing, implementing, training and completing four livelihood projects namely, production of pressed flowers and paper-cut calendars, setting up of chilli farms and a fish distribution centre for the three communities which are about 45 minutes by road north-east of Banda Aceh.

CCI is working in partnership with Yayasan Peduli Bangsa (Peduli Bangsa means "care for the nations"), an Indonesian NGO that seeks to serve needy communities through the provision of orphanages, education for children, adult life-skills training and micro-enterprise ventures.

The staff of Yayasan Peduli Bangsa have a heart for the poor, and have chosen to live amongst those who need their help the most. The organisation was quick to respond by providing disaster relief for victims of national disasters in Aceh, Yogjarkarta, etc. In addition, they also have staff working in Cambodia, in children’s orphanages.

The Singapore Red Cross Tidal Waves Asia Fund is providing 80% of the funding needed for the Aceh Livelihood Project which amounts to SGD 132,704.05.
