SRC invited to speak at Elias Park Primary School

In a bid to share the real meaning of volunteerism and spread the value of caring, the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) held a presentation at Elias Park Primary School.

On 15 February, as part of the school's Total Defense Day activities, representatives from SRC set up a booth to educate the students on humanitarian work done by the organisation, with the focus on the Tsunami.

This emphasis on caring for the community, as well as caring beyond our shores, is to educate the students on the importance of Social Defence. At the same time, it allows the students to grasp a better understanding of how humanitarian organisations like the SRC give local and international humanitarian aid.

Almost 900 students attended the exhibition and showed real interest in understanding the works of the SRC.

Mr Lim Theam Poh, Manager of the International Services division, also gave a presentation to the Lower Primary students in the afternoon. Using photos, Mr Lim further explained the services of the SRC, the involvement of the Red Cross Youth, as well as the importance of equipping yourself with first aid knowledge.

It was an enriching and fulfilling activity for everyone involved.
